AskMandla processes personal information to run the service: employment details to draft contracts, calculate wages, register UIF, manage compliance and give you support. We are a South African company and we work under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect, and why
We collect only what the service needs, and we tell you what each item is for when we ask. Your information is used to generate employment documentation, calculate wages, manage compliance and provide support.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal information. Aggregated, anonymised data may be used for analytics and to improve the service. We never ask for ID numbers on this public website.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to see how visitors use this website so we can improve it. When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies and records usage such as the pages you view and your general location and device; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set. We do not use this data to identify you personally, and we do not use it for advertising. You can change your choice any time by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser.
Whose records are whose
A worker’s records belong to the worker, and an employer’s records belong to the employer. Either can request their data on WhatsApp.
FICA screening
AskMandla is an Accountable Institution under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA). We screen prospective and existing employer clients against sanctions lists, Politically Exposed Persons and Prominent Influential Persons databases, and adverse-media sources, at onboarding and through the relationship. Screening runs through authorised third-party anti-money-laundering providers and processes your name, ID or registration number and similar identifying details. This is necessary to meet our legal obligations under FICA and is lawful under sections 11(1)(c) and, where relevant, 11(1)(b) of POPIA, so it does not need your consent.
