Registering a domestic worker for UIF

How do I register my domestic worker for UIF?
If she works 24 hours or more a month for you, you register as a household employer with the Department of Employment and Labour, on uFiling or with the UI-8D and UI-19 forms, and then pay 2% of her wage every month. How much does it cost to register a domestic worker for UIF?
Registering with the Department is free. AskMandla’s once-off registration service, where we prepare and submit the forms and chase the Department for you, is R450 per worker, paid at the end of the form. Her monthly UIF is 2% of her wage: 1% from you and 1% from her pay.
Does the R450 once-off registration include COIDA?
No. The once-off service covers UIF only. COIDA registration and the yearly Return of Earnings are part of the full service, which is R450 once-off per worker and R49 per worker a month.
Do I still have to pay and declare her UIF every month?
Yes, on the once-off option. After your reference number arrives you pay her UIF each month before the 7th and keep her declared under your number on uFiling; we send you the steps. On the full service we do the monthly UIF for you.
How long does UIF registration take?
Your part takes about 10 minutes. The Department of Employment and Labour sets the pace for the rest. Your registration goes to the Department as soon as your payment clears, and if they have not responded within 5 working days we chase them until your UIF reference number arrives.
What documents do I need to register my domestic worker for UIF?
A copy of your ID, proof of your home address dated in the last 3 months (a utility bill, bank statement or lease), and your worker’s ID or passport number, monthly salary and start date. Plain copies are fine; nothing needs to be certified.
I am already registered, but my worker is not on my UIF number. Can you fix that?
Yes. If you already have a UIF reference number, we file a UI-19 declaration that adds your worker under it, through the same form at register.askmandla.com. If months were missed, see UIF back pay.
Is registering the same as claiming UIF?
No. Registering is what you do as the employer so that she is covered. Claiming is what she does when she loses her job, goes on maternity leave or falls ill. This service is for employers registering, not for claims.
