Who must register
Any household where a domestic worker, cleaner, nanny, gardener, carer or driver at a private home, works 24 hours or more in a month. It applies per worker, and it applies even if she also works for other households.
What it costs
2% of her monthly pay: half from you, half deducted from her wage. On R4,500 a month that is R45 from each of you. Contributions are due by the 7th of the following month, every month.
Doing it yourself
You register on uFiling as a domestic employer, capture her details, then declare and pay monthly. Set aside an afternoon for the first pass, the system assumes payroll experience, and most households hit at least one validation error. The monthly declaration is then yours to remember, every month, indefinitely.

Having it done for you

Why it is worth doing either way
